What Is Included in the Set-Up Fee?

When it comes to website design, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes.

A great website involves more than just making a site that looks nice; a good website is the result of careful and deliberate work. It also involves feedback from the client, and good communication between client and designer every step of the way.

At Town Web Design, we have a website set-up process that we follow with each of our clients. This allows us to consistently create high-quality websites that are built to standard. In order to give you a better idea of our process, and show you what goes into making a website, here’s a look at what we do from start to finish during set-up and design. Read on to see what’s included in the set-up fee.

Set Up the Project in the Project Management Software

First, the project is set up in our project management software. This stage involves entering data about the project, and setting up the municipality as a customer.

Collaborate With a Project Manager

Once the project has been set up, we can collaborate with you to ensure that the website will be designed according to your specifications. During the planning stage, the project manager will work with you to determine which features you would like include in the website –such as a calendar, for example, or a feature for residents to make payments online.

Send Out Questionnaire

At this point, we will send out a questionnaire for you to fill in. This will provide us with much-needed information that will help us to create your website. This form will help the process to go smoother, and allows us to ensure that nothing is forgotten.

Photos

At this stage, we will collect photos for your website. We ask that you provide us with any high-quality photos of you town that you would for like us to use.

Design Graphics

During this part of the process, we will design the graphics that will be used on the website. This involves creating the header, and all of the buttons that will be used on the website –including subscription buttons, contact us buttons, calendar buttons, and more.

Stage Site

Site staging involves creating a mock-up of the website, to show you what it will look like when it’s completed. During this phase, we will create a site map, plan out the pages and subpages, and put everything together to create a website so that you can see and provide feedback on.

Migrate Content

Now it’s time to create the website itself. At this point, we’ll take the graphics and features from the mock-up, and create the functional website. Generally, we will start by creating the home page, and making a template for the website that includes the navigational structure. Then, we’ll work out from there, adding additional pages and subpages.

Execute Punch List

At the stage, we’ll execute our to-do list. This includes putting the finishing touches on the website, and installing plugins. The website’s almost ready!

Schedule Training

Once the site is ready to go, we will schedule training for those who are going to be managing the website. This will give you a chance to learn the ropes, and will show you how to upload new files, add events to the calendar, and more.

Make Site Live

Finally, the long awaited website launch! During this phase, we’ll transfer the content to the web host’s server. At this time, the content –including the files, graphics, and photos will all be moved. Your website will now be live –online, and ready for everyone to see.

Archive Project

The website will be archived, and a backup copy made as a precaution. In the unlikely event that something should happen to the site, there will be a backup copy ready and waiting.

Handle Support Issues

From this point forward, if any support issues should arise we’ll be standing by ready to help. We offer free tech support, and always strive to respond to any questions in a timely manner.

As you can see, building a website isn’t a simple, one-time set-up; it’s an in-depth process.

At Town Web Design, we work hard to provide high-quality websites for our municipal customers. If you have any questions about our process, or would like to learn more about what happens behind the scenes, feel free to contact us today.
